Sea Gull Athletics

I started my career in higher education as a faculty member and have been fortunate to continue to help students learn what is possible for themselves and others through sport, athletics and recreation.

National Championship Athletics

The roar of the crowd, the ping of the bat and the distinct swoosh of the ball hitting the net – these are just a few of the sounds that convey the excitement of Salisbury University athletics. To the delight of student-athletes, coaches and fans, the largest expansion and redevelopment of athletics facilities in the University’s history has occurred on East Campus in recent years. The new Sea Gull Stadium is among the best in Division III athletics, and we want to continue to help nurture and grow traditions of excellence throughout our athletics programs. It is a team effort. A winning spirit is pervasive at SU.

The Sea Gulls who wear the maroon and gold excel in competition and in the classroom. Our 21 varsity programs have earned 20 team and 24 individual national championships at the NCAA Division III level. SU has had nearly 40 scholar-athletes named Academic All-Americans and has ranked in the top four of the Capital Athletic Conference’s All-Academic list for the past 10 years. We want these traditions of excellence to continue.

Campaign Priorities & Initiatives

Through the Campaign for Salisbury University, Sea Gull Athletics seeks to:

  • Support the creation of a new Student Recreation Center focused on intramural sports and fitness activities.
  • Establish endowments for each sports program, for athletics in general and to help fund full-time assistant coaches.
  • Support other facilities developments, possibly including the transformation of Maggs Center solely for athletics and education purposes; a multi-use end zone building; a turf recreation field; field lights for soccer, baseball and softball; a new natatorium; a facility for track and field; improved locker spaces; SU-branded transportation buses; and eventually a new field house/arena.
  • Name Sea Gull Stadium, the baseball stadium and the tennis complex.

Athletics Facilities to Match the Reputation
SU Sea Gulls flocked to a new nest with the opening of the $19 million Sea Gull Stadium in 2016. SU has boasted championship teams and athletes for years and now has a stadium to match its traditions of excellence. But, the stadium was just one addition to the University’s growing athletics complex, which has changed drastically on East Campus over the years.  READ MORE
