I enjoy the process of matching a donor with his or her interests on campus. Whether it is through the arts, sciences, the environment, health, athletics, education ... you name it ... there is something for everyone. When our donors get to see the vast impacts of their gifts, it is incredibly rewarding.
Want to inspire innovation and creative ideas? SU seeks to establish endowed professorships (for faculty) and endowed chairs (for academic department heads) to best support the work of the most-creative researchers, the most-engaged teachers and the most-impactful leaders across campus.
Such positions are among the highest academic awards that universities can bestow, honoring both the creator and the appointee. These awards recognize the continued contributions of expert faculty and provide funds to support them, helping to propel their research and teaching, and create collaborations across and beyond campus. They are crucial for recruiting and retaining the highest-quality faculty by providing extra support and resources for research, salaries, professional development, external engagement and other activities.
SU currently has two endowed professorships in the School of Nursing. We hope to establish more endowed positions across campus academic units, including the Henson School of Science and Technology, Perdue School of Business, School of Health Sciences, School of Social Work, and Seidel School of Education.
In a rapidly changing world, fundamental discoveries and long-term thinking often occur inside universities from faculty – and the students they inspire. By funding endowed chairs and professorships, individual and corporate donors can help SU focus bright minds on particular areas of teaching and research to help spur advances in those areas. SU’s faculty already are known for being outstanding mentors who go above and beyond to serve the greater good. Creating endowed positions fosters further enrichment of our academic environment.
