College of Health and Human Services

The College provides high-quality programs that prepare students for productive careers as professionals in the areas of health and human services. With undergraduate degrees in community health, social work, nursing, exercise science, respiratory therapy and medical laboratory science; master’s programs in athletic training, applied health physiology, nursing and social work; and a doctoral program in nursing practice, the College provides a wide array of programs that all meet national standards for excellence.

Accomplished faculty are committed to student-centered learning, professional engagement and the promotion of ethical professional conduct. We support evidence-based practice in attending to the health and human services needs of a diverse and interdependent society. The College is committed to interprofessional education and collaboration, as well as community involvement, regional partnerships and international outreach. Producing students who are competent health and human services professionals helps foster the high-quality reputation of SU and attract even more students here.   

Campaign Priorities & Initiatives

Through the Campaign for Salisbury University, the College of Health and Human Services seeks to:

  • Name our newly created College as well as its Schools of Health Sciences, Nursing and Social Work.
  • Endow scholarships, especially to assist our need-based students, as well as professorships.
  • Continue to support faculty development opportunities for student and faculty research and the development of interprofessional education curriculum and seminars.
  • Enhance our teaching environment and facilities, as well as our equipment and spaces, such as the Exercise Physiology Lab, Henson Medical Simulation Center and other education technology needs.
  • Support outreach efforts, such as a social work lecture series and HOPECorp and other community-based prevention and treatment initiatives.

In 2005, a pregnant mother came into the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center where SU alumna Tracy Tracy worked as a staff nurse.
